Jean-Philippe De Visscher is an architectural engineer graduated from UCLouvain, Belgium and OSU, USA. De Visscher is an associate professor at the UCLouvain in Brussels where he teaches architecture, landscape and urbanism in various studios and seminars. He holds a Ph.D. in architecture with a thesis named ‘Indivision’. De Visscher’s research interests focus on research by design as a tool for the development of new urban commons, both in occidental and non-occidental contexts. De Visscher’s practicing experience includes design and project management of public buildings and collective housings in Brussels, urban design competitions and small-scale intervention in the public space. De Visscher is also the co-founder of KIS studio (Keep It Simple studio), an office that aims to avoid any unnecessary complexity to focus on the essentials
