Plyushteva Anna
Bio
Anna is an urban and transport geographer focusing on public transport, night-time work, and commuting. In 2016 she completed her PhD (University College London) on the expansion of the metro network in Sofia, Bulgaria, and its impact on the journey to work. Following her PhD, she worked at the Transport Studies Unit, University of Oxford, researching the gender and life course dimensions of everyday mobility in London and Manila. In her current role as Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Cosmopolis, Anna studies commuting in urban shift work. In particular, she examines the role of night-time public transport in the mobility of people employed in the hospitality and catering sectors in Brussels and Sofia. She is interested in critical and mixed-method approaches to urban mobility, and in perspectives which bring together affordability and sustainability concerns around transport.
