Sinds 2016 reikt het Brussels Studies Institute (BSI) elk jaar een prijs uit aan een uitstekende scriptie over Brussel. De BSI Thesis Award 2025 werd op donderdag 6 november uitgereikt tijdens een ceremonie in het Museum van de Stad Brussel – Broodhuis aan Lucas Lyko, voor zijn masterproef waarin hij de toepassing “Floya” analyseert vanuit het perspectief van publicness.
De drie laureaten van 2025 zijn:

- Lucas Lyko, voor zijn masterproef getiteld “Hunting in a Pack? An interrogation of the development of MaaS in Brussels through a normative claim to publicness” ingediend in het kader van zijn Master in Urban Studies (ULB/VUB) onder begeleiding Prof. Dr. Wojciech Kębłowski.Lucas Lyko ntvangt een cheque van € 2.000. Hij krijgt ook begeleiding bij het schrijven van een peer-reviewed wetenschappelijk artikel voor het elektronische tijdschrift Brussels Studies.
- Elliott Papazahariakis, “Concrete Dreams: Migration, Construction Work and Agency” (master in Geography, Urban Studies, VUB/ULB, supervisor: Prof. Dr. René Kreichauf).
Elliott Papazahariakis wint het bedrag van €750 en coaching om een peer-reviewed wetenschappelijk artikel te schrijven voor het elektronische tijdschrift Brussels Studies. - De derde plaats van deze editie gaat naar Imane Huyghebaert. Haar masterproef is getiteld “Modern Material Remains. A Salvaging Story” (Master of social and cultural anthropology, KU Leuven, promoto: Prof. Dr. Filip De Boek).
Imane Huyghebaert wint een geldprijs van 250 euro en coaching om een peer-reviewed wetenschappelijk artikel te schrijven in het elektronische tijdschrift Brussels Studies.
