Student job offer

Do you have a heart and a passion for Brussels and a perfect command of the English Language? Are you a student? Can you free yourself quickly? Then we have an interesting assignment for you.

The BSI developed an online course called « Brussels decoded ». This course already exists in French and Dutch. You will prepare the English version that will be available from February 2021. We expect you to:
  • translate the whole course and exercises with an automatic platform such as DeepL;
  • proofread the entire course;
  • correct spelling and grammatical mistakes;
  • improve the wording to make the reading easier for the general public (when you feel it is appropriate).
Therefore, you will receive full access to the online platform that hosts the course.
The online course is made up of six sections, which will be released one by one at the rate of one section every fortnight. The first section should be ready at the beginning of February 2021, while the last section should be ready in April at last.
What are your skills and qualifications?
Essential
  • student in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any discipline;
  • native speaker in English (UK);
  • good knowledge of French or Dutch;
  • meticulous and precise.
Desirable
  • interest in history, geography, political sciences, urban planning, sociology, demography… in particular with regards to Brussels;
  • able to navigate on a fairly intuitive online platform (such as WordPress);
  • good concentration skills;
  • autonomous and able to organize your working time in order to finish within the agreed deadline.
Timing
The start date is planned for mid / end of January. The desired availability is a few days in January and in February, around two weeks in total to be split in your best convenience and by mutual agreement in order to meet the deadlines.
Salary
You will be under a student contract of the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) with a hourly rate of €11,44 gross.
Location
The workplace is in the Brussels Studies Institute. Regarding the specific measures to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and if you demonstrates a good capacity for autonomy, you can carry out part or all of your assignment by teleworking.
