Bio
Dr. Nils Hooftman recently finished his PhD in Engineering Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, titled: ‘The road towards a zero-emission transportation system by 2050’. His work focuses on real-world vehicle emissions, greenhouse gas modelling, and life cycle assessments for passenger cars. Throughout his years as a Ph.D. candidate, Nils worked on the sustainability of pollutant emission regulations for the light-duty vehicle sector, as well as on the annual update of the Ecoscore database and reporting for all new and re-registered passenger cars within Belgium. From 2012 to 2015, Nils investigated the possibilities for an innovative pollutant emissions test during Periodic Technical Inspection (PTI), in a collaboration with the Brussels-based AIBV inspection centre.
