Ysebaert Walter

Bio

Walter Ysebaert studied social work at SHIPSS in Gent and the medieval history at the VUB, the ULB and Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes in Paris. He defended his PhD thesis in 2004 at the VUB. Between 2004-2008 Walter worked as a FWO postdoc researcher and focused on the problems of the development of the relation networks and the medieval oral and written literacy as related to the socio-political transformations in the North-Western Europe.

In 2008-2010 he was advisor at the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Science Policy and lecturer at the Artevelde high school in Gent. As of 2009 he has been working at the R&D department of the VUB as researcher and policy advisor. He is also head of the Data & Policy research group (existing since 2013). In that role he coordinates the ECOOM research project concerned with the development of the output indicators in art research.

Walter is also affiliated (part time) with the VUB research group HIST, his main research topic being the recent history of the Science policy in Belgium.
