Bio
Els Enhus was full professor in Criminology at the Department of Criminology of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Since September 2018 she is professor Emeritus in Criminology. Els is involved in teaching “Criminological Encounters” and “Crime and the City” (Master Criminology and Master Urban Studies). Her research focuses on the role and impact of discourses in the social construction of security and crime and the official reaction, security issues (e.g. crime statistics, fear of crime, multi-agency approach, prevention, cybercrime, new developments in criminology), police questions (daily work, culture, structure), and the relationship between the city and crime (public spaces, neighbourhoods, youth gangs).
