This talk runs through a range of arguments in favour of incorporating industry in cities, using extensive reference to London’s industrial economy and its struggle to remain part of the metropolis.
There is introduction to what a few other cities are attempting, and some exploration of new (or revived) development types, and an appeal for urgent action in order to secure cities such as we want and to sustain a rich and complex economy.
First delivered 2015, Antwerp. Again 2016.
