Huegaerts Kelly

Bio

Kelly Huegaerts (1988) studied Sociology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), where she graduated in June 2012 as a Master in Sociology with a qualitative MA dissertation on the precarious employment of service voucher employees. In 2016 she obtained a Master’s degree in Quantitative Analysis in the Social Science at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) with a quantitative MA dissertation investigating the mediators of the relationship between the unemployed Brussels’ youth and their mental health. In November 2020 she obtained her PhD entitled “Young and carefree? A study on the relationship between unemployment and mental health among young job-seekers in Brussels” at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).
She is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at the research group Interface Demography of the VUB. Her research focuses on the relationship between unemployment and mental health, precarious employment and health from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective.
