Prof. dr. Bas de Geus is a postdoctoral research associate in the Human Physiology research group MFYS led by Prof. dr. Romain Meeusen at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and recently joined the research group MOBI led by Prof. dr. Cathy Macharis. His work focuses on the health benefits of active mobility (walking and cycling). He has been involved in several research projects dealing the health benefits of active commuting, bicycle crashes, exposure to air pollution, psycho-social and environmental aspects of active commuting. His studies cover all age ranges (children, adults, older adults). His PhD in Physical Education & Movement Sciences (September 2007) focused on Cycling to work: Psychosocial and environmental factors associated with cycling and the effect of cycling on fitness and health indexes in an untrained working population. His teaching involves exercise physiology subjects.
