Arriving in Brussels

Arriving in Brussels. Migration and precarization: shared insights and challenges for research, social work and inclusive urban co-creation.

Citizen science, participatory research, … Increasingly, collaborations between researchers, practitioners, and grassroots organisations are used in the design, execution and implementation of projects and the formulation of policy proposals. At the intersection of migration and processes of precarisation, a lot of research has happened in Brussels in recent years and a lot is in the pipeline. Four recent projects look back and three new projects introduce themselves and enter into conversation with all those present, each from their expertise and concerns. Together, we discuss past research and examine new research projects from a common concern: how do we strengthen and democratise the city’s social infrastructure? Which collaborations are possible and desirable to achieve this?

Organized by: AIMEC (funded by the Economic and Social Research Council_ESRC) and ATLAS (funded by Innoviris), in collaboration with ReROOT (H2020) and URBIMM (NWO Vidi).
